Veritas Lex Volume I - Law Week 2025
Resilient Justice: Upholding the Rule of Law in Uncertain Times
Held from 11–15 August 2025 at APIIT Kandy Campus, Veritas Lex Volume I was a week-long celebration of legal education, professional engagement, and community outreach. The event was inaugurated in the distinguished presence of the Principal of Sri Lanka Law College Mr. Prasantha Lal De Alwis, PC, marking the beginning of a dynamic week of learning and collaboration.
The opening day featured a thought-provoking panel discussion centered on the theme, Resilient Justice: Upholding the Rule of Law in Uncertain Times. Throughout the week, participants engaged in a diverse range of activities, including expert sessions on cyber law and human rights, a crime scene investigation simulation, a law-themed movie marathon, a mock trial, a legal aid camp, and legal awareness sessions for school students.
Veritas Lex Volume I concluded as a highly successful initiative, bringing together students, legal professionals, academics, and the wider community to explore contemporary legal issues while promoting practical learning and public engagement.
A Week of Law, Learning and Impact
Veritas Lex Volume I unfolded across five days, combining professional discussions, practical learning, student engagement, and meaningful community outreach.
Opening Ceremony & Panel Discussion & Mock Trial
The inaugural day of Veritas Lex Volume I – Law Week 2025 commenced with the Opening Ceremony, followed by a thought-provoking panel discussion on resilient justice and the rule of law in uncertain times. The day concluded with a mock trial based on a divorce and child custody matter, providing students with an opportunity to experience courtroom proceedings and advocacy in practice.
Legal Awareness Program & Legal Aid Camp
The second day focused on community engagement through a legal awareness program conducted for Kandy school students. A legal aid camp was also held at the APIIT campus, where Attorneys-at-Law of the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka provided free legal advice.
Crime Scene Investigation Simulation & Expert Session on Cyber Law
Day three featured an interactive crime scene investigation simulation conducted by SOCO Kandy, allowing students to explore practical aspects of forensic investigation. This was followed by an expert session on cybercrime and cyber law in Sri Lanka, highlighting contemporary legal challenges in the digital era.
Law-Themed Movie Marathon & Legal Treasure Hunt
The fourth day featured a law-themed movie marathon, followed by a student-led crime scene-inspired treasure hunt. Participants worked together to analyse clues, investigate evidence, and uncover the mystery behind the fictional crime.
Closing Ceremony & Celebrating Achievements
The final day of Veritas Lex Volume I concluded with an insightful guest session on human rights, followed by the recognition of achievements throughout the week. Awards were presented to winners of the law-themed art competition involving school and APIIT students, participants and best performers of the mock trial, and the organizing committee members for their dedication and contribution to the success of the event.
