Himashi De Mel

Senior Lecturer

Himashi De Mel is an academic known for her theories on innovation management, management accounting, financial reporting and analysis, business strategy, operations management, and organisational behaviour.  

Himashi acquired her Master of Business Administration in Technology Management from University of Moratuwa and stood out as the top performer in the graduating batch with a GPA of 4.1. Likewise, Himashi graduated from Northumbria University (UK) with a First-Class Honors in BA in Business Management, and she is also an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (ACMA- UK). Further, she successfully completed the ISaLTY qualification which is an academic staff development programme developed specifically for undergraduate teaching.  

Before joining APIIT, Himashi served as a dedicated academic for eight years in the Business Department of the Sri Lankan institution affiliated with Northumbria University (UK). During her tenure, she held the position of Head of the Business Academic Department in 2015 to 2016 and advanced to become a Senior Visiting Lecturer and a reputable business consultant. 

Himashi commenced her professional journey at attune Consulting, later evolving into an external business consultant at McQuire Rens Global Consulting Private Limited. She also contributed as an external financial analyst for Credit Source PTY LTD, Australia. 

In addition to being an academic, Himashi holds the position of Patron of Business School Research Center, Simultaneously, she serves as the Management Representative for ISO, ensuring adherence to international standards, and acts as the coordinator for the ICAEW qualification, contributing to the academic and professional growth of students.
