Ms. Maheesha Abeythunga is a dedicated Lecturer at APIIT, holding a BA (Hons) in TESL (Teaching English as a Second Language). Currently pursuing her MA in Linguistics and MA in Women and Gender Studies at the same institution, Maheesha is deeply committed to
exploring the intricacies of language and its intersectionality with society. With a keen interest in innovative teaching methods, she employs passive learning techniques to foster a dynamic classroom environment where students actively engage with the material.

Her passion for research extends beyond the classroom, as she delves into topics surrounding language acquisition and gender dynamics. Maheesha’s goal is not only to educate but also to empower her students, providing them with the tools and knowledge to thrive in an
ever-changing world. With her expertise and enthusiasm, she aspires to inspire the next generation of language scholars and advocates for social change.
