BSc (Hons) International Business Management

Business has never been more global. Whether you are managing a local enterprise or a multinational corporation, every organisation today depends on international supply chains and complex cross-border relationships. Navigating that complexity requires professionals who can operate with confidence in volatile, uncertain, and ambiguous global environments.

This BSc International Business Management degree equips you with precisely those capabilities. You will develop a deep understanding of the global economic landscape, the dynamics of international trade, and the practicalities of operating across borders, from entering new markets to working with international partners and navigating cultural differences.

You will build the skills to plan, organise, manage, and lead business operations in a borderless world, learning from real-world scenarios, live industry briefs, and immersive business simulations.

The BSc (Hons) International Business Management is awarded by the University of Staffordshire, UK, and can be completed as a three-year full-time degree or a two-year accelerated programme.

Admission Requirements

Standard Route

The minimum qualifications required for admission on the standard route are:

  • GCE Advanced Level (Sri Lankan): 3 passes, or
  • GCE Advanced Level (London, Cambridge, or Edexcel): 3 D passes, or
  • Any combination totalling 12 points under the applicable tariff scheme
  • OR
  • APIIT Sri Lanka Business Foundation, and
  • GCE/GCSE Ordinary Level (Sri Lankan, Edexcel, or Cambridge) with a Credit Pass (Grade 4) for English
  • OR
  • An equivalent qualification, subject to approval from the University of Staffordshire
Accelerated Route

The minimum qualifications required for admission on the accelerated route are:

  • GCE Advanced Level (Sri Lankan, Edexcel, or Cambridge): 3 C passes, and
  • GCE/GCSE Ordinary Level Credit Pass (Grade 4) for English

You may apply with pending A/L results. Applicants with additional qualifications may be considered for advanced entry, subject to approval from the University of Staffordshire.

Teaching & Learning

This degree covers topics including global supply chain and logistics, cross-cultural management, business creativity and innovation, business ethics, and international business strategy. You will also explore global marketing management and critical issues such as social impact and climate change adaptation.

The programme is firmly rooted in what is happening in the world today. Class discussions and case studies span topics from global trade agreements and geopolitical shifts to the impact of international conflict on energy supplies, making your learning as current as it is relevant.

The consultancy-based module gives you three months working with a real company on a live project, covering areas such as marketing, HR, product development, or operations. This is hands-on, high-value experience.

All of our business programmes equip you with a diverse skill set in leadership and management. You will graduate with a creative approach to problem-solving, the ability to interpret and apply financial data, strong teamwork and communication skills, and confidence in managing time, projects, and resources.

To deepen your industry connections, the programme includes career talks, company visits, and guest speakers from across the profession. Faculty bring a genuine depth of business experience and research expertise to every session.

Throughout your studies, you will have access to a wide range of learning support platforms and e-resources, including LinkedIn Learning for continuous professional development and certifications.

Career Opportunities

The breadth of this degree prepares you for management roles across import and export, global marketing, international logistics, and beyond. Graduates have gone on to careers as management trainees, customer experience specialists, and postgraduate researchers, with many launching their own successful businesses. Typical specialist roles include International Banker, Financial Analyst, International Strategist, Investment Analyst, Trade Coordinator, and Operations Manager.
