Dr. Ranga S. Jayakody is a distinguished academic and researcher with over a decade of experience in higher education and an impressive international academic background. He earned his BSc (Hons) in Computational Chemistry from Carleton University, Canada, followed by an MSc and PhD in the same field from the University of Cape Town, South Africa. He is also certified in Teaching in Higher Education, reflecting his dedication to impactful pedagogy. Dr. Jayakody’s expertise encompasses computational chemistry, molecular modeling, and computer-aided drug discovery. His career includes teaching and research roles in Sri Lanka, South Africa, and Canada, providing a global perspective and fostering international collaboration. As a patent holder, he has demonstrated his commitment to scientific innovation and excellence.
Currently, Dr. Jayakody leads the Biomedical Sciences program at APIIT, focusing on designing a forward-thinking curriculum that prepares students for success in emerging scientific and healthcare disciplines. With a passion for education, he is particularly interested in advancing science education through artificial intelligence while maintaining a human-centric approach. His vision is to empower graduates with the skills and knowledge needed to thrive in interdisciplinary and technology-driven environments.
