Dr. Vindya Udalamaththa holds a PhD in Biotechnology from the University of Colombo, specializing in human stem-cell platforms, bioprospecting, and drug discovery. Prior to completing her PhD, she served as the Lead Cytogenetic Scientist at the Human Genetics Unit, University of Colombo. Dr. Udalamaththa completed her Master’s degree in Genetic Diagnostics at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Colombo, as a full scholar under the NOMA Grant from Norway. She started her academic journey, with a First Class in BSc Biotechnology from the University of Pune, India, under the ICCR Full Scholarship Scheme. She has extensive research experience in human genetics, cytogenetics, stem-cell research, and respiratory disorders, with numerous peer-reviewed publications, international and national presentations, book chapters, and four patents. She has received several awards for research excellence and publications. Dr. Udalamaththa has teaching experience in Genetics, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, and research-related modules across Scottish and Australian academic programmes. She currently contributes to human blood stem-cell research funded by the National Science Foundation of Sri Lanka. Her research interests include human stem cells, medical biotechnology, bioprospecting, and drug discovery.
