Ruvini Nathasha is the Programme Lead for the NCUK International Foundation Year at APIIT Sri Lanka. She holds an MSc in Operational Research from the University of Moratuwa, and a BSc in Physical Science from the University of Colombo.

With eight years of teaching experience, Ruvini specialises in mathematics education at Advanced Level and university foundation level. Her experience also includes academic coordination, quality assurance and student mentoring. She is passionate about helping students overcome difficulties in mathematics and develop the confidence and skills needed for further study.

Her teaching combines clear explanations, practical applications and interactive learning activities. Through collaborative problem-solving, formative assessment and individual support, she encourages students to participate actively, think critically and become independent learners.

Her research interests include mathematical optimisation, operational research and mathematics education. Her MSc research explored the use of integer linear programming to optimise the allocation of security resources during simultaneous emergencies in Colombo, demonstrating the potential of mathematical modelling to support practical decision-making.

As Patron of APIIT’s Student Activity Club, Ruvini supports student engagement across sports, social and community initiatives. She values the role of extracurricular activities in developing leadership, teamwork and responsibility, and encourages students to balance academic progress with personal development.
