MSc Computer Science (Business Computing)

MSc Computer Science (Business Computing) provides a bridge between technology and management by developing the knowledge and skills needed to be an effective practitioner in an Information System – rich environment. The award is concerned with those areas of computing fundamental to the use and development of IT as a tool to support the objectives of an organization.

This course will enable you to study computing systems with a specific perspective of how they fit within a business and the required management activities needed to maintain and develop them. As a part of computing, students will learn about issues such as integrating business objectives and how to model these into designs. At the opposite end of the process students will learn about how to implement systems. MSc enables students to work with the latest technologies including SAP, and Amazon.

The programme consists of lectures, tutorials, workshops and projects. Projects are intended not only to develop students’ practical skills and application of technology, but also to develop your ability to work efficiently in a group as well as independently in a disciplined and structured setting.

On successful completion of the MSc Computer Science (Business Computing), students will be awarded with a Staffordshire University degree

Duration

18 months part-time degree. All the taught modules are covered in one year followed by the dissertation

Admission Requirements

An undergraduate honours degree with a second-class lower division or above from any discipline from a recognized University. Applicants must be able to demonstrate a good standard of English. In the absence of academic qualifications, appropriate work experience and potential to benefit from the Masters Programme will be taken into consideration in assessing the suitability of an applicant.

Career Opportunities

Upon completion the MSc, graduates are equipped to handle the managerial responsibilities that requires technical expertise in any workplace. Graduates may seek for positions such as business analyst, Enterprise Systems (ERP) analyst/ consultant, Information system manager, System Analyst, Solution architect, Data analyst, IT consultant, Data scientist and System developer.
