BSc (Hons) Cyber Security
Our BSc (Hons) Cyber Security award is designed to launch your future career in the protection of software and hardware against malicious threats. Our course is designed to give you not only a theoretical foundation in computer science, but also a practical and expert-level knowledge in a specialist area of the field which can range from network security through to ethical hacking. You will be fully prepared to work in the industry upon graduation.
We focus heavily on the practical element of cyber security. A laboratory equipped with the latest devices and software will enable you to put into practice what you learn in class, throughout your course of study.
On successful completion of the BSc (Hons) Cyber Security, students will be awarded with a Staffordshire University degree
Teaching and Learning
You will learn through lectures, tutorials and workshops. Lectures are highly interactive and incorporate group discussions, video presentations, and activity-based learning. Learning activities are designed to develop soft skills as well as your ability to work independently and as part of a group. - Professional & study skills & research methods
- Introduction to project management using agile methods
Cyber Operations and Network Security
- Cyber Operations and Network Security Provision of cyber security operations (CCNA Cyber Ops)
- Implementation of cyber security using CISCO ASA (CCNA Security)
Ethical Hacking
- Penetration testing and the five phases of hacking (CEH)
- Tools and counter measures for active network defense
Cyber Security
- Cyber-risk analysis and development of comprehensive security practices
- Risk management, disaster recovery and business continuity planning
Industry Placement up to 1 Year
At the end of the second year you may opt for an internship/ placement to gain industry exposure

Admission Requirements
The minimum qualifications required for admission on the standard route are:
A. GCE Advanced Level
- Sri Lankan: 3 passes or
- London, Cambridge or Edexcel: 3 D passes or
- Any combination totalling to 12 points from the following tariff scheme:

You may apply pending A/L results. Applicants with additional qualifications may receive advanced entry.
